Hi, I'm new in this area, so any thoughts on this issue are very welcome.
Last year I wrote a poem and when I finished it I read it a few times to myself. I started getting a stabbing feeling in my chest...in the area of the solar plexus and then the feeling changed to a scraping feel after a few days. That scraping feeling stayed around for a few months and then it transformed into a smooth and serene feel. Did I open the solar plexus chakra? And is it common for people to open the solar plexus chakra by reading or chanting lines?
The poem was quite intense and dark. In a way, I feel the poem worked as a knife to stab me. The poem is titled 'bleed the love'. I feel the poem had a destructive force, but a force that worked for the good of me...to open up things inside me. The poem also has a spiritual dimension too...dark energy.
It has been a year since the initial scraping feeling. I have changed as a person and feel I have grown and my heart is more open.

Hi Julian,
Here's my 2 cents: About 9 months ago or so, (after consciously working on my spiritual growth for about 6 months at the time) I went to a choir practice and felt a terrible discomfort in my 3rd chakra area. It only happened when I sang certain low pitches that were normally comfortably in my range. I couldn't stand the way it felt!! I went to a sound healer one week later and when I was chanting on that chakra, again, the discomfort came back. I asked the healer about it and she told me that the 3rd chakra may have been feeling uncomfortable for me because it could be opening up, almost like I was being "invited" to go deeper in my spiritual practice. I also thought it was interesting that the pitch that was bring me so much discomfort was also the pitch I tended to chant "Om" on. What she said made sense to me, and I continued to chant and try to heal that chakra. I can say that I no longer have a problem with that pitch or chakra area, so I believe what she was telling me. So that's my way of saying "Yes" to your question. You felt it in your heart chakra, so maybe that area needed some balancing. I think it can happen to any of the chakras.
